The Scamont Group was founded in 1978 in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, South Africa. It is a market leading original equipment manufacturer of a range of positive-displacement slurry pumps, multi stage clear water pumps as well as pneumatic rock drills typically used in mining.
Through the years Scamont has transformed from operating as small jobbing firm in Jeppestown to a globally renowned market leader in pump manufacturing operating out of a 11 000 m2 state of the art manufacturing facilities.
Scamont’s competence in manufacturing high quality, precision equipment locally, at reasonable prices, backed by the provision of expert consulting and maintenance services, has positioned the company at the forefront of suppliers of slurry and clear water pumps and rock drill machines to the South African and global mining industry. This is evidenced both by the long-standing supply relationships with the major SA mining houses, some of which extend over 25 years, as well as Scamont’s success in other African jurisdictions such as Zambia, DRC, Tanzania, Botswana and growth into new geographies including Australia and South East Asia.
With Scamont as an industry leader in the manufacture and supply of a range of positive displacement slurry pumps and multi-stage centrifugal clear water pumps, as well as spares therefor, and Luhlaza’s experience in the metal, mining and casting for pumps and related industries, as well as the HR / IR field, the convergence of these two companies is a perfect match. A partnership which reinforces our joint commitments to the principles of empowerment and transformation that underpin South Africa’s progressive democracy as well as the development and sustainability of the black industrialist program.
The two entities decided to join forces and start Scamont Luhlaza as an empowered company which has 51% black woman ownership.
These entities will be performing the repairs and reconditioning of positive displacement slurry pumps and multistage centrifugal clear water pumps, as well as supplying spares across the entire product range. The new entities will be penetrating and taking its foot print into Africa making it the largest black woman owned pump and related services company in South Africa and Africa at large.
